Ocean Network Express Charts New Waters with West India – North America (WIN) Service Launch in 2024

Ocean Network Express (ONE), a prominent shipping company based in Japan and Singapore, has recently unveiled plans for its latest venture—the West India – North America (WIN) service. This new shipping route is set to kick off in May 2024, connecting India’s West Coast to the US East Coast and utilizing nine vessels operated by ONE.

While the focus of the route is on India, it interestingly initiates from the Bin Qasim port in Pakistan, near Karachi. The service will also make stops at significant ports in India, with Jawaharlal Nehru Port near Mumbai being one of the key destinations. As the journey unfolds, the route includes calls at Damietta, Algeciras, and Jeddah before reaching the US.

ONE emphasizes that the WIN service is designed to offer its esteemed clients “dependability and flexibility.” Apramapar Singh, General Manager of India Marketing at ONE India, expressed enthusiasm about this innovative service. He highlighted ONE’s unwavering commitment to the Indian market, considering the WIN service as a noteworthy milestone for the company.

Singh shed light on the diverse range of commodities that will benefit from the new route, including Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) like electronics, perishables such as foodstuff, and retail goods like textiles and apparel. He further noted that the direct and increased capacity provided by ONE’s new WIN will be advantageous for the movement of chemicals between India and North America, offering customers in the region a rapid and direct service that caters to their on-time delivery needs.

The Hazira container terminal was identified by Singh as a crucial gateway for ONE, linking to industrially active regions in South Gujarat, North Maharashtra, and Central India. This terminal is expected to play a pivotal role in facilitating the efficient flow of goods for the shipping company.

Zach Connors, Senior Director and Head of Sales of ONE North America, emphasized the strategic advantages of the WIN service. Connors described it as a “flexible and dynamic product” designed to stimulate the growth of the India-North America market and beyond. He pointed out that the enhanced access to additional growing economies along this new route, through direct calls and transshipment, would add significant value for ONE’s partners seeking diversification in their supplier and buyer relationships.

This announcement comes on the heels of ONE’s recent route expansion initiatives, including the introduction of the FLX service in September 2023, connecting Latin America to the United States. These strategic expansions reflect ONE’s commitment to providing comprehensive and efficient shipping solutions to meet the evolving needs of global trade.
