Gopalpur port sets record for cargo handling

The Gopalpur Port, located in Odisha’s Ganjam district, has achieved a remarkable feat by loading the highest-ever amount of iron ore lumps onto a vessel. On July 13 to 14, the port loaded a staggering 59,150 metric tons of cargo onto the MV Reachy Spring, a vessel nominated by JSW Steel. This achievement has set a new national record.

Furthermore, the port, which is managed by the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, continued to break records by loading 86,700 metric tons of iron ore lumps onto the same vessel within a span of 40 hours on July 15. The loading process averaged an impressive 2,167 metric tons per hour. This accomplishment was confirmed by a statement released by the port.

Amit Saboo, the managing director of Shapoorji Pallonji port maintenance, expressed his pride in the Gopalpur port’s achievement. He stated that this record-breaking performance highlighted the port’s exceptional cargo management efficiency and its ability to handle large volumes of cargo. The chief executive of the port also commended the accomplishment, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of all those involved in making it possible.
