OCEAN Alliance – a powerful force in maritime shipping, comprising industry giants CMA CGM (No. 3), COSCO SHIPPING (No. 4), Evergreen (No. 7), and OOCL (part of COSCO) – has solidified its presence for another five years. This extension, announced recently, guarantees their operational cooperation until 2032.

Building on this momentum, the alliance partners have launched an enhanced version of their “DAY 8 Product”. This offering, acclaimed as the world’s largest maritime services network for eight consecutive years, provides customers with unparalleled access to global trade routes.

Responding to Red Sea Instability

Recent instability in the Red Sea, caused by attacks by Houthi rebels, has disrupted shipping routes. To mitigate these disruptions, OCEAN Alliance is taking decisive action. Ships are being rerouted around the Cape of Good Hope, Africa, to ensure cargo reaches its destination. The alliance is also intensifying coordination and optimizing rotations within the “DAY 8 Product”.

Unmatched Service Offerings

The “DAY 8 Product” boasts an impressive array of services:

  • A fleet of 321 container ships with a staggering total capacity of approximately 4.5 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units).
  • 35 services covering the world’s most crucial trade routes.

Within these, customers can choose from:

  • 6 services connecting Asia and Northern Europe.
  • 4 services between Asia and the Mediterranean.
  • 20 transpacific services:
    • 8 services between Asia and the East Coast of the United States.
    • 12 services between Asia and the West Coast of the United States and Canada.
  • 2 transatlantic services connecting Northern Europe to North American ports.
  • 3 services linking Asia to the Persian Gulf ports.

Temporary Suspensions

Due to ongoing security concerns, two alliance services connecting Asia to the Red Sea have been temporarily suspended. OCEAN Alliance is closely monitoring the situation and will resume operations when it is deemed safe to do so.

Following swiftly on the heels of this extension, the alliance partners have unveiled their latest initiative, the “DAY 8 Product.”

In a statement released today by CMA CGM, it was highlighted that due to the volatile situation in the Red Sea, vessels are being redirected through the Cape of Good Hope, causing disruptions in supply chains. In response to this challenge, the OCEAN Alliance partners are intensifying their coordination efforts and adjusting the rotations of the DAY 8 Product to mitigate these disruptions.

Now in its eighth consecutive year as the world’s largest maritime services network, this offering provides customers with an array of options:

  • A fleet of 321 container ships, boasting a collective capacity of approximately 4.5 million TEUs.
  • 35 services covering the world’s most crucial trade routes.
  • 6 services connecting Asia and Northern Europe.
  • 4 services linking Asia and the Mediterranean.
  • 20 transpacific services, including 8 services between Asia and the East Coast of the United States, 12 services between Asia and the West Coast of the United States and Canada, and 2 transatlantic services connecting Northern Europe to North American ports.

In response to continued attacks by the Houthi rebels in the Red Sea region, two of the alliance’s services connecting Asia to the Red Sea have been temporarily suspended until further notice.
